Unknown Wife and Laundress






           At Camp Pendleton in northern Virginia, a laundress for the 31st Pennsylvania works beside her soldier husband and their children. Army regulations allowed each regiment four washerwomen in camp. In the field, the men sometimes washed their own clothes.
